The landscaping project and the architectural project operate together to obtain a good adjustment to the existing topography in El Paradiso, Altea, Alicante, Spain.

The architectural design defines two ways of movement: An outdoor stairs between the house and the main street and an outdoor ramp of vehicles at the back front.

The landscape design of ‘The Garden’ works, from the architectural design, with three main ideas:

1. To dilute subtly the limits between the existing vegetation mountain and the new areas of subtropical plants proposed. The subtropical species give way to mountain plants and vice versa. The Garden works as a continuous and rhythmic wide space. The entrance takes rhythm and color through several palm trees and shrubs (Phoenix roebelenii, bouganvillea spp. Hedera helix, Hibiscus spp, etc.). Large specimens of Cyca circinalis and Cyca revoluta work as milestones in both the entrance and the transition zone between the slope and parking access. In the north also it works with subtropical plants, in this case, Schefflera actinophylla, Howea forsteriana, nephrolepis cordata, etc. for adapting the white walls and allowing the use of green in a dark area.

2. To introduce the mount inside the plot and dilute the boundary between landscape and housing. In this case, the use of Pennisetum rubrum, Gaura lindheimeri and Miscantthus spp. introduces the autochthonous vegetation to get the integration.

3.  To provide privacy to the house without losing the spectacular views that it offers. To get this end, it is planted a forest of Ficus nitida next to the pool, wich is conveniently pruned, covering the bottom of the valley, closing the outdoor seating area from prying eyes, but keeping the beautiful views of the surroundings.

Garden Plants used: Agapanthus africanus, Alpinia, Archontophoenix cunninghamiana, Dypsis lutescens, Asparagus meyeri, Phyllostachys aurea, Bougainvillea glabra, Phoenix reobelenii, Coprosma repens, Cyca revoluta, Cyca circinalis, Dioon spinosum, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Howea forsteriana, Nephrolepis cordata, Phoenix roebelenii, Phormium tenax, Pittosporum tobira ‘Nana’, Washingtonia robusta, Washingtonia filifera, Strelitzia augusta, Strelitzia Regina, Schefflera actinophylla, Pennisetum rubrum, Gaura and Miscantthus spp.
